Real Madrid has always used Chelsea Football Club as a storefront when looking for players in the English Premier League.
Players from both the Blues and the Galacticos have a long history with their respective teams. Below is a list of the participants.
(1) Eden Hazard: The most recent player to move from Chelsea Football Club to Real Madrid is the Belgian. He joined the Blues in 2012 after they won the UEFA Champions League in Munich and left them for Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 for a record-breaking €115 million transfer fee. The season that Hazard spent with Madrid will be remembered as one marred by injuries.
(2) Antonio Rudiger: When discussing the German’s move to Real Madrid, Chelsea supporters will always feel hurt. Rudiger moved from Roma to the Blues in 2017. After Chelsea won the Champions League, he later joined the Galacticos at the start of the 2022–23 season.
(3) Thibaut Courtois: Thibaut Courtois is the second Belgian to choose to leave Chelsea for Real Madrid, and he can be considered the best acquisition from Stamford Bridge. Before forcing his way out of the club in 2018 to join Real Madrid, Courtois spent four years in London with the club, earning two Premier League championships.
(4) Matteo Kovacic: One of the players who moved from Real Madrid to Chelsea is the Croatian international because he did not receive enough playing time at the Santiago Bernabeu. Later, in 2018, he finished relocating to the Blues’ arena. Three of his Champions League titles were won with Real Madrid, while his fourth was won with Chelsea.
(5) Arjen Robben: During his career as a footballer, the Dutchman was one of the best attack-minded players. But without writing about his tenures at Chelsea (2004–07) and Real Madrid (2007–09), his history will fall short. The winger played 65 times for Los Blancos and 106 times for the Blues.
(6) Gonzalo Higuain: A German, is another player on the list who has represented both Real Madrid and Chelsea. Before transferring to the Premier League, where he played for Manchester United and Chelsea, the forward had the best period of his career when playing for the La Liga giants.
(7) Alvaro Morata: The Atletico Madrid star has experience playing for some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Chelsea and Real Madrid. He was at Real Madrid for eight years, from 2008 to 2016, before spending one year at Juventus and then three years at Chelsea, from 2018 to 2020.
(8) Claude Makalele: During his playing days, the French international was regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. Makalele played for Real Madrid from 2000 to 2003, then from 2003 to 2008 he moved to the Blue side of London.
(9) Ricardo Carvalho: Thanks to his relationship with John Terry, the former Portugal star will always be known as one of the best defenders in Premier League history.
In his first two seasons, he won the League Cup and the Premier League twice in a row. He received the team’s Players’ Player of the Year award in 2008. Two years later, he contributed to Chelsea’s first Double in club history, the league, and FA Cup victories. In the summer 2010 transfer window, he went to Real Madrid for a cost of £6.7 million.
(10) Nicolas Anelka: The French forward had some success while playing for Real Madrid and Chelsea. He played for the Blues from 2007 to 2012 and for Real Madrid in 1999 and 2000.
(11) Michael Essien: When Makalele left the Blues, the Ghanaian took over as Chelsea’s defensive midfielder. Prior to joining Real Madrid on loan in 2012, he won two Premier League championships and the UEFA Champions League.
