I’m on a camel, my God! Champagne consumption in the desert! Afterward, I noticed rose petals, at which point I thought, “I should definitely stop Snapchatting this.” I started to realize that something was going on.”
2. Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom
Orlando Bloom went all-out (and up!) on Valentine’s Day 2019 to ask Katy Perry a crucial question. The singer of “Roar,” who appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! a few days after the couple announced their engagement, discussed Bloom’s helicopter surprise, which culminated in a ring on her finger.
After dinner, I thought we were going to see some art, but instead, Perry said, we pulled up to a helicopter.
Even though not everything went according to plan, the singer stated she still enjoyed his “really romantic” concept: Bloom handed her a note to read as a diversion from the engagement ring he was pulling out, but as she was doing so, a commotion broke out.
“So I’m reading [the note] but I’m hearing the champagne is broken and the bottle’s everywhere,” she explained of the scene inside the chopper. He pulls out a box that is too large to fit in his coat pocket, ripping the pocket, and then his elbow hits the champagne.
Fortunately, the commotion didn’t stop her from saying “yes” enthusiastically or prevent them from arriving safely on a rooftop in Los Angeles, where Perry’s loved ones were waiting to celebrate their engagement.
3. Audra Mari and Josh Duhamel

On her account, Reid also shared a picture resembling it. “Speechless. Beautiful beyond words. I love you so much, “In the caption, she stated.
5. Eudoxie Mbouguiyengue and Ludacris
It’s understandable why the rapper’s future bride “screamed ‘HELL YES'” to his elaborate proposal, which involved flying over a field in a private plane while the words “Eudoxie would you marry me” were projected onto the ground.
What, though, really made this engagement special? The two got married the same day he proposed. Why wait, he asked in a subsequent piece.
6. Russell Wilson and Ciara
The romantic engagement that Russell Wilson proposed to Ciara in 2016 wasn’t your typical destination wedding. Before he proposed, the Football star raised the stakes: Wilson whisked the musician away on an unspecified trip.
Instead, they engaged in a game of “travel roulette,” in which the quarterback presented his future wife with 30 potential destinations and asked her to choose one. When they arrived at the upscale resort North Island in the Seychelles, “She was shocked,” a representative for Ciara told PEOPLE at the time.
As they got to the tropical location, Wilson again caught her off guard when he bent down and proposed to her.
“She said Yes!!!” he captioned an Instagram video marking their engagement. “You have been the one since Day 1. Real love is no greater feeling.”
7. Caitlin McHugh & John Stamos
The Full House actor made numerous romantic allusions to the romance films in the series when he proposed to his Disney-obsessed fiancée, Caitlin McHugh. This amazing occasion was made possible thanks to Bob Iger, the CEO of the media firm, who is also a big Disney fan.
A month before the actor’s real engagement at Disneyland, Iger wrote to him. It was the funniest email early in the morning, Stamos recalled to PEOPLE in 2017, just before he proposed. “It sounded like, “Hey! I am Caitlin’s and your Instagram follower. She really loves Disney, doesn’t she?”
McHugh was given the gift of a lifetime thanks to Disney animator Paul Briggs, a friend of Iger and Stamos. Briggs assisted Stamos in putting together a short film that featured the most romantic scenes from Disney and Pixar animation movies. It was quite unique.
8. Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade
When Dwyane Wade asked Gabrielle Union to marry him in December 2013, his children provided some assistance. The Bring It On actress announced their engagement on Good Morning America the next month while wearing a ring on her finger.
The professional player and his children, Zaire, Zaya, and Xavier (who are now 15, 21, and 9, respectively), arranged it together, “as a family,” Union recalled, adding, “I was utterly stunned.”
She remembered that the gang was merely going to spend the day together as far as she knew. They went to visit their house, which was being built at the moment, after lunch. The children yelled for their father and his soon-to-be fiancé while she and Wade were upstairs seeing the renovation.
“As D and I turn around, they say, “OK, now!” They also have placards that read, “Would you marry us?” “She explained on the talk show, adding that she was dubious of the validity of the proposal because they kept asking her that. “I thought, “Oh, how embarrassing! They’ve made signs now,” He was on one knee as she turned to giggle with her future husband.
Wade and Union now share a daughter Kaavia James, whom they welcomed in 2018. Wade also has children Zaire, Zaya, and Xavier with former partners.

“It was a tremendous shock when it happened,” Kate remarked in a joint interview they did after becoming engaged in 2010. There’s a real romantic in there, I think.

13. Sam Esmail and Emmy Rossum
The “Modern Love” section of The New York Times was a favorite of both the Shameless alumna and Mr. Robot author Sam Esmail, so it stands to reason that the love section would figure into their own tale.
During her 2017 wedding, Rossum opened out to Vogue about how they had became engaged two years previously.
I give him a dramatic reading of it. I read it to him over the phone even if we aren’t together, the actress said of their “Modern Love” custom. Then, for some reason I can’t recall, we skipped reading it one weekend, and the following Friday he reminded me. That particular day, I was actually feeling a little down, so I replied, “Oh, well, I’ll read it eventually.” “Oh, no, no,” he responded, “I think you should read it.” “I’m having a back spasm,” I cried out. If you really want to hear it, I’ll read it to you from the bathtub even though I’m actually going to take a bath and enjoy a glass of wine.
“When I started reading the piece, I noticed that it was about a director who fell in love with an actress. It struck me as odd, so I stopped reading. Then I understood it was the tale of our love. I initially panicked because I believed he might have truly published it in the newspaper, but I hadn’t noticed it, and everyone else knew but me.
Rossum immediately understood how far her husband had gone to beg her to be his wife. He must have called Daniel Jones at The New York Times to obtain their paper template and to request that they have a whole mock section printed on the bottom half. She mentioned that he had even placed an advertisement for the Ralph Lauren Ricky Bag. By the time I had finished, he was kneeling in the bathroom and I was in the bathtub.
14. Pink and Carey Hart were
The singer of “So What” didn’t waste any time waiting for her motocross star boyfriend to initiate the proposal. Hart’s participation in the 2005 Pro 250 class finals in Mammoth, California, may not have been the most ideal time for her to approach him.
She showed Hart a pit board that read, “Would You Marry Me?” as he entered his third lap of the competition. Pink held up another sign that read, “I’m serious,” as he continued to drive. Her explanation was successful, too, as her future husband stopped his motorcycle to accept.
15. Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd
The dance floor is the ideal location for Dancing with the Stars pros to propose, and Maksim Chmerkovskiy did just that to Peta Murgatroyd in 2015. In fact, during their performance in Miami, he got down on one knee.
I’m in love with you and I shall be for the rest of my life, Chmerkovskiy told his future wife, in front of the audience and their fellow Sway dance show performers.
Later that evening, he captured her response in an Instagram photo from the time. He captioned the picture, “She said yes.
16. Todd Kapostasy & Tara Lipinski
When the professional figure skater and her ex-boyfriend, Todd Kapostasy, went to the renowned Plaza Hotel in New York City for after-dinner drinks, they were in for a thoughtful surprise. Following her “Yes,” Lipinski shared details of her fiance’s proposal on Instagram, revealing that he used her love of “Christmas window displays” to make the occasion ideal.
He somehow persuaded the hotel to let him take one of their exhibits over and this painting of him proposing to me in front of my home in California was inside, she said along with a photo patching together a photograph of the painting and a picture of the couple.
