I GOT SIGNED ON INSTAGRAM – Beambo Taylor
Jaynation Music Act, Beambo Taylor (Taylor ti o ni machine) keeps making admirable wave as an irreplaceable act with endearing knack for excellence and overwhelming street credence. We met Beambo Taylor and her colleagues having a good converse as usual. The likes of Lyta, Limerick, was also in the building. We had a little tete â tete with the Jaynation signee but Oguntimehin Ayomide and Emmanuel Daraloye had to go straight down to business.
Can we meet you?
My name is Beambo Taylor, Taylor Tio ni machine, Taylor ti o ri anybody. My bad, I love to rep myself
Are you a rapper?
I do everything. All genre, I rap and sing. indigenous most especially.
How does it feel like being a female rapper?
Well, it’s been challenging but I love it
Who’s your role model when it comes to rapping?
My role model?? Nicki Minaj
So you rap like nicki?
I won’t say I rap like her, I rap in my mother’s tongue. But I love her flow, I love her vibes but you know when we are talking about Physique you know am not close.
Tell us about your recent tracks??
Well I dropped “funwon finish” last year, and I dropped “Ye” last year too, the video is coming out soon
You haven’t dropped any song this year?
This year?? I did a cover of Adekunle Gold’s “ire” this year I also did “Ijebu freestyle” it’s online.
Are you from Ijebu??
Yes, Ijebu ode.
One thing we like about you is the “stand out” trademark, only few females in Nigeria happen to be an indigenous rapper, miss kiss and others. Don’t you feel intimidated??
At all, I see myself as a man, forget about the physique. There’s nothing a man can do that I can’t do. LOl, I can do anything.
Beambo, brief us about your educational background.
I attended moshud abiola polytechnic, mass communication, OND graduate for now so am going for my B.sc probably at University of Lagos or university of Ibadan.
When should we be expecting a new track?
Am positive, anything that comes out of my mouth is a hit. So just expect fire, more features, more collaboration,
Taylor, what’s the inspiration behind your music?
My environment. I don’t smoke, I don’t drink, so no inspiration from that angle at all.
Do you think the female artiste are given the needed attention? Cause we have spoken to alot of female celebrity and all they do is complain of the male artiste not giving them the needed space. What’s your take on that?.
Yeah, they are not giving us the chance. Big shout out to Tiwa savage. She’s not a rapper but with the little of her capacity she’s paving big ways for upcoming artiste like us. But with the new generation, we are strong.
What were you doing before you got signed? Or you weren’t signed?
Well am signed to Jay nation. It is a small firm and I happen to be the first signee On the label, first female too. Big shout-out to Ola dips who regranned and shared my videos on instagram. Funny enough, I got signed on Instagram.
Tell us the first female that ever discouraged you from doing music?
My mum. But now she’s fully in support. My dad is a gangster, when I told him all he said was that I should go on with my music. Sometimes I ask my dad got the latest songs and he doesn’t disappoint. So first I told my brother then he broke the news to my mum and it was a “No” first she said she doesn’t like the way they dress, then she said I should go back to school but I told her this is what I want.
