Charles Farmer Death And Obituary – The 83-year-old Charles Kirkland Farmer passed away on March 13, 2023. He lived in Houma, Louisiana, but was originally from Ballground, Georgia.
On March 16, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, family members and visitors are welcome to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home. On Friday, March 17, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, visitation will continue at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church in the community center. The grave will be interred in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. In addition to his wife Joan Fanguy Farmer, Charles is also survived by his four sons Duane Farmer (Christina), Charles Farmer II (Sherry), Jamie Farmer (Beth), and Joey Farmer (Cheryl), one daughter Lisa Bergeron (Kirk), three brothers Johnny Farmer, David Farmer, and Robert “Bob” Farmer, three sisters Doris Derden, Betty Farmer, and Jane Monroe, thirteen grandchildren, including Coty Knoblock,
Charles was the City of Houma Police Department’s Chief of Police from February 5, 1962, until he retired on that same date in 1987. He met Joan, his wife of 63 years, while serving in the US Air Force. They were a couple weeks away from turning 64 on April 4. Charles enjoyed playing golf with his sons, going hunting and fishing with his friends. He enjoyed doing research, gathering information, and putting things together. He loved his family dearly and looked forward to seeing them often. He loved to travel and wanted as many family holidays as possible. He was adamant about the value of God, family, and nation.
Charles was a devout Catholic who believed in God wholeheartedly. In Houma, he was a committed member of Mary Immacolata and took part in the ACTS-sponsored Catholic men’s retreat. He went to Maria Immacolata’s Mens ACTS retreat with his grandson Kagan. Unquestionably, Charlie, as he was called, stood up for his convictions. He was beloved and loved by his wife, kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. An honorable person who will be missed by all. But this is not goodbye; you have given us the guidance and wisdom we need to live on Earth until we cross paths again.
