The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office and Sevierville Police Department were both involved in an officer-involved shooting on Holly Drive on Friday night, not far from New Center Elementary School, which is currently under investigation by the TBI.
“Initial reports indicate that around 8:15 p.m., officers with the Sevierville Police Department and the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office went to a residence on Holly Drive in Sevierville, in an attempt to follow up on an incident involving a felony evading by vehicle,” according to a release from the TBI. “An individual inside the property and the officers outside exchanged shots as they drew closer to the residence; the circumstances surrounding this are still under investigation. Inside the house, there is one deceased individual. The identity of the person is being withheld until family members have been informed. A second person received injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. For non-gunshot injuries, two sheriff’s deputies and one city officer were sent to the hospital. After suffering a gunshot wound, a police K9 was sent to a local veterinary clinic for treatment.
