The fourth studio album by Nigerian artist Davido is titled Timeless. On March 31, 2023, Davido Music Worldwide, Columbia Records, and Sony Music Entertainment are expected to release it. The album’s debut song, “Champion Sound,” featuring Focalistic, was made available on November 19, 2021.
Davido revealed on Instagram on March 21 that his fourth studio album, Timeless, would be released on March 31. After taking a sabbatical from social media to deal with the death of his three-year-old son, the statement marked his return to it. As he performed in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final, he briefly resumed social media use before making the news. The announcement was accompanied by a theatrical video that featured footage from the tour. Davido can be seen in the trailer writing a note with his own narration. In addition to photos of him sitting at a desk, the trailer also includes performance and making-of footage. Davido cited Ecclesiastes as his source of inspiration, saying, “There is a season for everything, including a time to rejoice and dance as well as a time to mourn and heal. A time to speak, and a time for silence”.
In June 2022, he informed Rolling Stone that the record was almost finished. Davido collaborated with Spotify to create a playlist of classic Afrobeats songs in advance of the release of the album. It is known as the “Timeless Afro Playlist” and includes songs by Wizkid, Tekno, and Mr. Eazi, among others. To commemorate the album’s release, Davido will perform three performances between April 2 and April 5, 2023. The Irving Plaza, Koko, and Tafawa Balewa Square in New York, London, and Lagos, respectively, will host the concerts.
