Don't Let President or Government Intimidate You - Former Emir Sanusi of Kano to Nigerians

Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, a former emir of Kano, advised Nigerians not to let a president or state governors intimidate them.

The leader of the Tijaniyya sect, Sanusi, claimed that because Nigerians choose to disregard politics, they are not inferior human beings.

The former Central Bank Governor claimed in a statement that if Nigerians don’t free themselves from the control of the political elite, they won’t have a nation to call their own.

Sanusi asserted, “We cannot be scared by someone just because they are a president or a governor, and we cannot correct them when they are in error.

“We selected several components. Given Nigeria’s presidential election eligibility, I could have either been president or a governor if I had entered politics.

“The fact that I chose not to enter politics does not imply that I am a lesser human being. We all need to learn this as Nigerians. We all take too much trash and are too terrified to leave our own surroundings.

“By the time these folks are done with us, our kids won’t have a country to call home. Holding people in politics accountable is the only way to save our country and ensure that our children have the future they deserve.

It is not a pleasant circumstance to be in. When people detest you because you are incompetent, you wear it as a badge of glory. In a distorted atmosphere, it is impossible to feel at ease and normal.
