A Dallas County arrest warrant states that a guy is suspected of killing his girlfriend after she allegedly left the state for an abortion.
The incident happened on Wednesday after police were called after Gabriella Gonzalez, 26, was discovered dead in a parking lot.
Prior to the shooting, Harold Lavance Thompson is purportedly seen strolling with Gonzalez in surveillance film.
Before Thompson fired the fatal shot, he tried to suffocate her, but she was able to get away.
According to the court records, Thompson shot Gonzalez once in the head with a gun, then continued to shoot her while she was on the ground before fleeing. Gonzalez’s sister and other witnesses claim that Thompson tried to choke Gonzalez before the shooting.
The search warrant said that Thompson and Gonzalez were dating. Additionally, according to court records, Thompson was previously the subject of a family violence strangulation warrant stemming from an incident in March in which Gonzalez was the victim.
Gonzalez had left the previous evening for an abortion in Colorado, according to further inquiry. It is believed that Thompson was Gonzalez’s father and opposed her having an abortion.
Following the execution of a search warrant, Thompson was detained and refused to give a statement.
According to Dallas County Jail records, he has been charged with homicide and assaulting a family member or household member as well as obstructing breath or circulation.
According to court documents, Thompson’s initial court appearance on Thursday resulted in the denial of bail and the assignment of a public defender.
Gonzalez had three kids from a prior relationship, per the police report.
