Gene Kallsen California Death And Obituary – The late Dr. Gene Kallsen was regarded as the “father” of emergency medical services and recently died away. With his death, Fresno lost a legend. Friends of Dr. Kallsen’s family notified him that he had passed away unexpectedly while he was sleeping on Saturday, March 4. Up until his death, he led a full life and was usually spotted taking morning walks with his wife, Pam, in the northwest Fresno neighborhood where they lived.

He enjoyed kayaking, skiing, woodworking, reading, and sailing among other activities. The University of California, San Francisco’s Gene W. Kallsen, MD, Endowed Chair in Emergency Medicine bears Dr. Gene W. Kallsen’s name (UCSF). For almost 23 years, Dr. Kallen oversaw the UCSF Fresno Emergency Program. Former Department of Emergency Medicine chief Dr. Jim Comes stated that “Dr. Kallsen created a special space here.

Nowadays, the department employs 40 people, 12 residents per year, and more than 300 graduates. Gene was such a fantastic person and doctor, and he will be greatly missed by all, said Dr. Danielle Campagne, who is acting in an interim role as the chief of the Department of Emergency Medicine. “The leadership and direction he offered in the early years of the field’s emergence as a speciality can be directly credited for the success of our Emergency Medicine department.”

The first statewide association of EMS directors was chaired by Dr. Kallsen, who also made contributions to the creation of the first EMS policies and protocols, many of which are still used as the basis for current recommendations. He was also the one who spearheaded the effort to shorten Fresno County’s EMS response times. The majority of them are a little on the insecure side at the beginning of those four years,” Kallsen reportedly said of the residents he trained in the frequently chaotic emergency room at Community Regional Medical Center. They must be as green as grass because of the term’s fundamental definition. I’ll think of them as heroes when they finally leave the building after those four years.
