An online obituary on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, announced the sudden death of James Gritschke of Crystal Lake, Illinois. However, his cause of death was not immediately mentioned.
James Gritschke has a fascination with the piano since he was four years old. His dad likes to tell him how he took him to watch jazz pianist Jon Webber at the Four Seasons.
Ten years later, I was introduced to theater and choir. After my first musical and concert, I realized how much I needed music in my life. I immediately relocated to downtown Chicago after receiving high praise for my vocal and theater skills in high school, found an agent, and attempted to start a career in theater, film, television, or anything else I could. A few years later, I was asked to play Rocky in the “Rocky Horror Show” production at the Raue Center.
I seized the chance when Mike gave me a position with Felix and Fingers a year later.
Tributes
“I’m at a loss for words, I couldn’t believe it when I heard this morning about one of my closest friends passing away, James Gritschke. I had know James since High School, and we reunited after I Graduated from college, he performed a couple times at the POA with his dueling piano performances. I remember he would aways let me hold the harmonica when he performed the song “Piano Man”. He always put on an amazing show any where he would go. Rest in peace my friend,” a Facebook post said.
