Jeffrey Scott West News – According to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, there was a tragic event in which one person died and another is presently undergoing treatment for a gunshot wound to the right ear.
Around 8:15 p.m. on Friday, there was an incident at a house on Friendsville’s Quarry Hollow Road. Jeffrey Scott West, 68, has been named as the dead by the authorities.
His death was confirmed by the responding authorities. The autopsy will be performed by the Knox County Regional Forensic Center, according to the BCSO.
Kyle W. Spitze, 24, was sent to the University of Tennessee Medical Center to receive medical attention for his wounds. We anticipate that he will fully recover from his wounds.
Detectives were called to a home on Quarry Hollow Road prior to 8:15 p.m. on Friday in response to a report of gunfire, according to BCSO. Spitze was discovered waiting outside with another resident upon arrival. In addition to getting medical assistance for his wounds, Spitze told the police what happened during the fight he and West, the dead, had inside the residence.
Spitze was hurt when West unexpectedly pulled out a gun, just missing hitting Spitze in the ear. Spitze hurried outside with the other individual and dialed 911.
Teams from the Special Weapons and Tactics and Crisis Negotiations departments of the Sheriff’s Office arrived on the site. They started talking to West in the hopes that he would give up. Just before 11 p.m., police forced entry into the house with a K-9 unit after their failed effort.
During their investigation, they came across West’s lifeless body. It looked like he had shot himself to death. After the event, none of the police officers were hurt.
