He was born in Middlesboro, North Carolina, on March 2, 1978, to Joel Wilson (Lasley) and the late Joan Yeary. JoJo was an avid hot rod enthusiast and enjoyed trading, which was a talent of his. JoJo enjoyed the companionship of people more than the actual act of trading, regardless of the object in question.
With a voice like an angel’s, JoJo used his gift of singing to display his musical ability. JoJo had a kind heart and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone, especially his loved ones. Above all, he found great delight in his job as a father.
JoJo was a multitalented person, skilled in several areas but not an expert in any. He was endowed with a lively personality and like to tease girls, often in jest, saying that they “needed a yard rake for their hair.”
He is survived by his wife, Brittani Wilson; son, Devin Hill; daughter, Lyndi Elkinton-Wilson; father, Joel Wilson (Lasley); brother, Michael Hensley; sister, Donna Myte; special in-laws, Gerald and Tina Morgan; special aunt, Frankie Ayers; others, Jay Hopper, dad, Mike Partin, dad Tony Arnett, Brance Combs, Jesse Hoover, Tom Anderson, Brian York, Randy Miracle, Doug Bayless, Ali Omar, Nelson Bingham, and Brad Mills; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Uncle Rick Sampson, Uncle Carl Shackelford, Miss Judy, Uncle Bobby Moore, Paul Collins, grandfather Bill Jones, grandfather Dallas Shackelford, Joe and Wilma Hensley, Billy Gordon, and several other cherished family members and friends preceded him in death, in addition to his mother.
On Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., friends may visit JoJo Wilson’s family at Green Hills Funeral Home. The Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel will host funeral services for him at 6:30 p.m., with his friend Mr. Nelson Bingham officiating.
There will be no public Graveside Services. Jay Hopper, Mike Partin, Tony Arnett, Brance Combs, Jesse Hoover, Randy Miracle, Doug Bayless, Ali Omar, Nelson Bingham, and Brad Mills are all scheduled to serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
