Several days before his 25th birthday, mixed-media artist Jordan Mays lost his mother. In their American Kombat Alliance match, Mays defeated John Bustillos of Arlington, Texas, through technical knockout in the second round. Mays later recalled, “There was a wonderful tranquilly over me just before that fight. She was there with me, I could feel it. She provided me with so much inspiration. There was no mention of the reason of death.
Mays’ record in mixed martial arts contests would improve to 3-3 with this victory. In Louisiana, Mays is presently ranked 11th among flyweights. Mays enjoyed a productive high school career in baseball, basketball, and football before graduating from Vidalia High in 2017.
Mays excelled in football and basketball during his senior year, earning 10 points per game in football and hauling in 23 passes for 494 yards and six touchdowns. The 1979 Vidalia Vidalia boys basketball team won the state championship, and Kelvin Mays played on the team. His son, Mays, bears his name.

Mays decided to join the Mixed Martial Arts after he and his fiancée watched a UFC fight on television. Mays is a part of the woodshop team at Cajun Industries, LLC in Baton Rouge, where she works. Mays has declared his intention to return to competition in either December or January.
Until he fulfils his goal of winning the AKA amateur title, Mays’ present goal is to continue fighting as an amateur. Hawnee Kim is the current AKA flyweight division champion. Mays stated that he is investing more time in developing the wrestling component of his game.
Mays admitted that the journey had been harder than he had imagined. However, the outcomes more than made up for the time and work invested.
