Lane Kokshoorn Death – The Gold Coast man and his young child lost a loving father in a small aviation accident in northern New South Wales. Lane Kokshoorn and his son died on Tuesday just after 8:30 a.m. when their recreational kit plane on Winegrove Road in Lilydale, near Grafton, crashed with powerlines. Kokshoorn was in his 30s, and his son was less than ten years old. It is thought that Kokshoorn was employed in Japan as a commercial airplane pilot.
The plane is believed to have taken off from Gold Coast on Monday. It was believed to spend the night in an unidentified place before taking off again yesterday. A recreational aircraft struck a powerline and crashed onto the banks of the Clarence River, according to a statement made by Acting Inspector Aaron van Schaik.
Unfortunately, the plane caught fire as a result of the collision. The police said the plane was heading west when it had the mishap. Approximately 186 Lilydale homes lost electricity after the collision, although it has since been restored.
