Officials reported Tuesday that the Delhi Police had arrested three travel agents who had been defrauding hundreds of students and job applicants under the guise of sending them abroad.

According to officials, among other documents and tools, the accused were being held with over 2,000 blank visas from various nations, 165 fake visa stamps, more than 3,000 envelopes, and 127 dyes used to produce visas.

The situation came to light after a student from Punjab and five of his classmates who attended an IELTS institute claimed that the agents who contacted one of them on social media had defrauded them of Rs 18 lakh. Five visas for Australia were to be issued by the agents, but it was later discovered that they were fake.

Amit Gaur, Chandan Chaudhary, and Nitin Nazara, the three defendants, were detained following a number of raids in and around Delhi.
“We noticed that the individuals were manufacturing bogus visas and travel documents and were mostly targeting persons from Punjab and Haryana,” stated Tanu Sharma, DCP (IGI Airport). More than 1,150 blank plastic cards used to create fake Aadhaar cards and other IDs have been found by us. They have also been found using stamps, envelopes, and other visa templates when forging visas.

The fraudulent documents and other items were recovered from the men’s office in Delhi’s Tagore Garden, where they were working.
