The victim suffered multiple stab wounds to his neck from the attack which happened on Wednesday afternoon. Police were called to the scene of the attack at 2.40pm on Wednesday. The attacked occurred at Tellson Avenue in Woolwich.

The victim was taken to a south London hospital where he was unfortunately pronounced dead at 8.55pm.

Following this latest attack, the number of people killed from stabbing in the capital has now gone up to 34 this year.

Scotland Yard said that the attack had taken place “in a garage area outdoors”.

In a statement, they added: “Despite the extensive efforts of medical staff he was pronounced dead at 8.55pm.

“His next of kin are aware. We await formal identification.

“A crimes scene and cordons remain in place

“At this stage, there have been no arrests. The Homicide and Major Crime Command have been informed.

“Enquiries continue.”

Wednesday afternoon’s stabbing comes as the epidemic has continued to spread across the city over the weekend.

A woman and three children aged under 12 have been stabbed in north London.

Last week, a man in his 40s was stabbed to death in broad daylight following a fight in south London.

Moreover, on June 29, 26-year-old Kelly Mary Fauvrelle was stabbed in Croydon while eight months pregnant.

Her baby was delivered at the scene but died four days later.

To combat the violence, Sadiq Khan recently promised a stop and search “blitz” three years after promising to “do everything in my power to cut stop and search”.

Mr Khan has also set up a Violence Reduction Unit in a bid to thwart the escalating levels of violence plaguing the capital, which he partly blames on Tory cuts to policing.
