Moses Armstrong, a Nollywood actor, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force’s Akwa Ibom State Command for allegedly defiling a minor.
During an interview with Qed, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, confirmed his detention.
According to the report, Rollas described the matter as “very serious.”
According to reports, the matter is being handled by Martha Udom Emmanuel, the state’s First Lady, through her Family Empowerment and Youth Re-Orientation Path Initiative.
The claim, according to the AGN president, is a tragic event affecting one of their own, and the organization will not tolerate such a crime.
“To get connected with a child as young as 16 is something I and the organization I represent would not stand for, and this is a very sad development involving one of our members, but I would not want to speak further on this situation.”
“He is still in police custody as we speak,” Rollas was quoted as saying.
Moses Armstrong is a special assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State.
Rita Armstrong, Moses’ wife and also an actress, died in 2018.
Rita died as a result of injuries to her spinal cord caused in a car accident.
On Saturday, February 3, 2018, the mother of two was returning from Lagos to her husband’s home in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, when the Akwa Ibom Transport Company (AKTC) bus carrying her was involved in a horrific crash along the Ugbogui axis of the Benin Ore Lagos Expressway.
