The world has lost a remarkable leader and advocate with the passing of Olga Meshoe Washington, a senior staff member at the Institute for Black Solidarity with Israel (IBSI). Her untimely death has left her family, friends, and colleagues in profound grief.
Renowned for her courage, intellect, and passion, Olga was a powerful voice for justice and solidarity. As the leader of DEISI (Defend, Embrace, Invest, Support Israel) International, she dedicated her life to strengthening the bonds between African nations and Israel, championing moral clarity and building bridges across continents. Her work united communities through shared values, fostering understanding and cooperation.
Beyond her professional achievements, Olga was deeply cherished for her warmth, resilience, and fearless advocacy for truth. She was a beloved figure whose indomitable spirit inspired all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Olga’s passing followed a period of illness and a medical emergency shortly after her return from her native South Africa. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, she succumbed to her condition. She is survived by her grieving husband, Joshua Washington, IBSI’s Executive Director, as well as her extended family and countless admirers worldwide.
News of her death has sparked an outpouring of tributes. Friends, colleagues, and supporters remember her unwavering faith, dedication to justice, and ability to inspire others.
