Two tradesmen have received plaudits for their bravery after intervening to prevent a group of three youngsters from allegedly robbing a house.
The alarm went off a few homes down from where Connor and Jacob were working on a property on Tuesday morning in Indooroopilly, in the southeast of Queensland.
Travis Kesson, their employer, claimed the two noticed something immediately that seemed “suspect” and went to investigate.
Kesson claimed that “the Porsche had been sort of backed in and the doors had been kicked open.”
As a result, Connor, one of the lads, “sort of reached in and pulled the keys out of the Porsche so they couldn’t take off.”
Two of the young suspected bandits fled, but one of them, who was wearing a balaclava over his face, approached the tradies with a knife.
The tradies, according to Kesson, never anticipated running into someone with a knife, but he couldn’t be more proud of the way they handled themselves.
“They were able to avoid anyone getting hurt, help people with their property, get the property back, and stop them from robbing the house,” he said.
It was admirable that they decided to sort of pay attention to what was going on rather than just disregard what was going on in the neighbourhood.
Police eventually detained three youths.
They face charges for a number of offences, including attempted armed robbery and attempted home invasion.
Two of the juveniles are accused of having knives in their possession, and one is charged with having a harmful substance in their possession.
A balaclava-related accusation has also been brought against one of the teens.
The Youth Justice Act’s guidelines will be used to deal with the minors, according to the police.
