    It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Rod Carter Jr #21, a beloved racer at Lake Cumberland Speedway. His presence on the track will be deeply missed. Tragically, news broke today of his passing on Thursday, June 13th, 2024. According to reports, there was an unexpected death of a resident named Rod Carter Jr from Woodbine, Kentucky. As of now, there has been no official update regarding the cause of his death. Our condolences go out to his family during this challenging period.

    Thunder Mountain Speedway has issued the following statement:

    Our hearts go out to the family of Rod Carter Jr., also known as Lil Rod, during this difficult time. The entire Thunder Mountain Speedway community is keeping them in our thoughts and prayers. Dennis and Rod have been lifelong friends, having grown up together in Woodbine. Please keep everyone in your thoughts as this is going to be a challenging situation to navigate. Keep an eye out for an upcoming event at TMS that will honor and continue Lil Rod’s memory and legacy.
