Ronald W. Hunold Death – Ronald W. Hunold, an 87-year-old Warsaw resident, passed away at his home on December 26, 2023, at 10:30 AM. On August 7, 1936, Ronald J. Hunold was born in West Point, Iowa, to Edward J. and Anna A. (Menke) Hunold. On February 4, 1961, he married Betty J. Calvert at St. Mary’s in Fort Madison, Iowa, marking the start of a lengthy and blissful union. Ron was always supportive of his family’s farm growing up.

But he did find his calling and spent the remainder of his life creating art and building. With the assistance of his father and brother Harold, he built the Montrose grain elevator, which stands as his first real accomplishment. This marked the start of a successful construction career. Ron, Lowell, and Ralph Junkins started building homes. In the 1970s, new housing was constructed in Montrose under the enormous trees that offered shade.

Ron built hundreds of house communities out of his housing developments on the cliffs at Fort Madison, west of Keokuk. His greatest achievement was the renovation of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Montrose, where a memorial liturgy will be held in his honor. As he grew older, Ron threw himself into home renovation projects for his children in Italy, Lee County, Iowa, and Florida.

Along with his four children, Mitch (Nancy) Hunold of West Point, Iowa; Rhonda (Tim) Poe of Warrensburg, Missouri; Kent (Monica) Hunold of Houston, Texas; and R. Andrew (Jennifer) Hunold of St. Augustine, Florida, are among his cherished wife of sixty-two years, Betty. Among his descendants are eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. His sister, Irma Burch, is a resident of Des Moines, Iowa, and she remembers him. His parents, siblings, Adrian, Harold, Bernard, Doris, and Gene would all die before him.

Ron will have a memorial mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Montrose, Iowa on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects and share memories at the church from 9:00 AM until the rituals at 11:00 AM. The family would prefer memorials sent to the Hunold Heritage Center rather than flowers. Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw is in charge of making the preparations. Ron, your influence on people and places will live on forever. We promise to get together again after we part ways.
