Samuel Kesselman was struck and fled from on Thursday, October 20. He waited around a corner and came to a complete stop at a red light while traveling to an EY company event. Suddenly, a speeding car hit Sam from behind, and the driver sped away. A special DC Police squad has been watching the incident and is looking into it right now.
Sam was taken by ambulance to Howard University Medical Center, where surgery was performed right away to reduce swelling brought on by the traumatic brain damage. Within 48 hours, he was moved to the Bayview campus of Johns Hopkins Hospital’s Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit. He receives the best treatment.
Sam has severe wounds and is currently in a coma. He was also joined by his mother Alison Schechter, father Stephen Kesselman, brother Ross and sister Ross Kesselman, and girlfriend Erin Passow. His situation is critical. Each day is a good indicator. He still has a long way to go in recovery.
Samuel, often known as Sam or “Case” by people around him, was a cherished guy who affected and positively impacted their lives. Many would argue he was a natural leader since he lived an exemplary life influenced by Jewish ideals.
Sam made a significant contribution to Cornell University, where he held a number of leadership roles in groups like the Cornell Political Alliance, Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fellowship, and ZBT Fraternity President. Sam was committed and enthusiastic.
Sam began a full-time job as a government consultant at Ernst & Young just a few months ago after earning his degree from Cornell University in the spring of 2022.
Sam’s nine years as a camper at Modin and another three as an employee have had a huge impact on him. He grew up there with his closest buddy and rose to prominence as a leader in the camp community. Sam is looked to by his campers as a role model, and both campers and counselors can learn from his love and concern for them. He still regularly offers his campers love, support, and guidance.
Sam is someone who can make the world a better place. In addition to being adored and looked after by his coworkers and managers at Johnny’s, a well-known establishment in Newton, he also stood out on the Newton North Side for receiving the Massachusetts Jewish War Veterans Scholarship and the Newton City Community Service Award. He worked in Jake Auchincloss’ campaign office while serving as Seti Warren’s intern in the local municipal government.
Sam was compassionate, giving, and he always put the needs of others above his own. Your love and prayers are just as crucial as Sam, Zev Shmuel ben Avigael Davida’s intense healing, despite the fact that he is now in critical condition.
