Scott Korogodsky Death; Second Drug Rehab Executive Died by Suicide Following Bankruptcy

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Scott Korogodsky, Chief Administrative Officer of Retreat Behavioral Health. Our thoughts are with his family and the Wheeling, Illinois community during this difficult time. Scott’s death was determined to be an apparent suicide this week, according to the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s office. Scott Korogodsky was discovered deceased just days after the company’s CEO, Peter Schorr, tragically took his own life.

Retreat Behavioral Health Files for Bankruptcy and Announces Closure

The Lancaster County treatment clinic will be closing after the unfortunate passing of the company’s CEO. Retreat Behavioral Health operates two campuses in Lancaster County, along with additional clinics in Florida and Connecticut. Retreat Behavioral Health, a multi-state corporation with locations in Ephrata and Akron in Lancaster County, is unfortunately closing due to insolvency, as stated in internal emails.

Retreat Behavioral Health has expanded its reach beyond Lancaster County, with treatment facilities now available in Florida and Connecticut. These facilities provide comprehensive care for drug, alcohol, and mental health issues. Based on internal emails, the company’s leadership has recognized past payment delays and attributed them to issues with its payroll processing system. As of Wednesday, there were still three patients at the Ephrata inpatient facility, despite its capacity to accommodate over 100 individuals. It is expected that they will be discharged and relocated to other facilities, with the Ephrata and Akron locations being closed by the end of the week.

It seems that the Connecticut office has been closed indefinitely due to a foreclosure lawsuit in Florida that amounted to 17 million. The closure of the facility was confirmed by Jarel Gallman, the site director of the company’s New Haven location. It was a decision made due to financial difficulties following the CEO’s passing and the company’s inability to compensate its workers.

    Scott Korogodsky’s Cause Of Death

The funeral for Schorr took place on Tuesday in Valhalla, New York. The medical examiner in Palm Beach County, Florida, where Schorr died, stated that due to restrictions outlined in state public records legislation, she is unable to disclose the cause of death. However, it is worth noting that in March, the legislature made an exemption to the provision that previously prohibited the release of autopsies in cases of suicide. The family of Schorr has kindly requested that any contributions made in his memory be directed towards organizations focused on suicide prevention.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed by the Palm Beach County medical examiner’s office that Scott Korogodsky from Behavioral Health passed away on Wednesday. Korogodsky is listed as the chief administrative officer in multiple sources. As per a source from the Lancaster, Pennsylvania Retreat facility, Korogodsky assumed the role of acting CEO after Schorr’s unfortunate passing last week. Local authorities have confirmed that Korogodsky tragically took their own life, according to a statement from the West Palm Beach TV news station WPTV.

The family will be releasing Scott Korogodsky’s obituary and funeral arrangements.
