According to rumours, Chelsea is prepared to pay the £85 million asking price put up by Leicester City for Wesley Fofana.
The Sun reports that the center back is eager to transfer, but Chelsea’s initial offer of £60 million was turned down.
However, another offer is expected for the 21-year-old Frenchman before the end of the transfer window, and new owner Todd Boehly is eager to sign him to Thomas Tuchel’s team.
Although reluctant to part with Harry Magurie, Leicester would consider a similar £85 million offer from Manchester United in 2019.
Chelsea is lacking in defensive players after the departures of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, but they are hopeful that Leicester’s ambition to generate money will lead to a compromise.
Only Kalidou Koulibaly has come to play in the middle of defense, though Marc Cucurella is expected to join from Brighton and Cesar Azpilicueta has agreed to a new two-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
