According to the victim’s family, a targeted shooting event resulted in the death of a young girl, age 4.
Early on Tuesday evening, just before 8 o’clock, shots were fired at the automobile she was riding in as it was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Dickerson Pike and Douglas Avenue.
Two people got out of their vehicles at the red light and started shooting at the automobile with three kids in the backseat—the four-year-old girl and two other two-year-olds.
Her injuries included a gunshot wound to the head, and sadly, the girl died as a result of them, according to the girl’s family. In addition, the 22-year-old male driver was shot in the arm, and one of the two-year-olds in the vehicle was lightly hit on the head. According to the evidence that is now available, according to Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron, this incident looks to be a purposeful shooting.
When two people got out of their vehicles and started fire, the victims’ car had already stopped at the red light. Over 20 shot casings were found on the ground at the crossroads by the police. There were no reported casualties in that incident, but bullets also injured another vehicle.
The individual, according to Aaron, drove the car to the Family Dollar shop, which was about three miles from the shooting scene. One of the youngsters in the vehicle’s mother may have worked there, according to rumor.
A witness, who was in the rear of a Lyft with her boyfriend, told FOX3 that they were stopped at a red light when several rounds rang out suddenly nearby, sending shrapnel flying toward their vehicle. They both instantly lowered themselves in their seats to keep from being close to the windows as they recoiled in dread.
The sound of gunfire lasted throughout their ride along Meridian as the Lyft driver swiftly drove along Douglas Avenue in an effort to get away from the situation.
The witness said she thinks the Lyft driver has already contacted the police after hearing them discuss a witness statement that could only have come from the driver, herself, or her boyfriend since they were the only people at the red light who weren’t directly involved in the shooting.
