Ustaz Ali championed religious moderation. He stood up to be counted in the difficult years after 9/11 terrorist attacks.
It wasn’t fashionable at that time to do the things he and many of our respected religious leaders did.
They stepped up to counsel detained Jemaah Islamiah and radical group members and their families. It’s a battle of hearts and mind – detention alone won’t be enough. Co-led by Ustaz Ali, our religious leaders in Religious Rehabilitation Group (RRG) won over many misguided individuals with their sincerity, care, and patient guidance.
We owe Ustaz Ali a debt of gratitude for his sterling leadership, guidance and service to our nation and community.
