Ugochi Nworie, a woman in her twenties, was allegedly murdered in a renowned hotel (names omitted) along the Enugu-Abakaliki expressway on Saturday night.
While one source stated that the woman was gang-raped, another stated that the crime occurred in Ebonyi and was a case of ritual killing.
After a late-night celebration, the victim, an indigene of Ebonyi State’s Ikwo Local Government Area, was alleged to have encountered some “unknown” individuals at the hotel.
According to Vanguard, the men who arrived at the hotel in a saloon car dubbed “Colonel” pleaded with the victim to give her N50,000 so that one of them may spend the night with her, to which she eventually consented to.
The victim’s lifeless body was eventually discovered in the hotel on Sunday afternoon after her female companions reported a missing person case to the police, according to reports.
When late Ugochi’s body was delivered to a mortuary in Abakaliki, sources close to the victim claimed that her essential organs, including her eyes and breasts, were missing, among other things.
According to another source, the girl was discovered dead on Monday, May 2, 2022, a day after she arrived with three males at the G-Hostel Junction hotel in Abakaliki, the state capital.
Her hands and legs were tied, her eyes were blindfolded, and her private portion was supposedly hacked off, according to an eyewitness.
Loveth Odah, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, stated during a news conference on Wednesday in Abakaliki that investigations are underway to determine what caused the young lady’s tragic death.
She reassured the public that the command will conduct a comprehensive investigation to determine the cause of the incident, apprehend the perpetrators, and bring them to justice.
Ugochi Nworie was allegedly gang-raped to death in a prominent hotel in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, according to a report.
According to those familiar with the incident, the lady was found dead in her hotel room after the door was forced open during the day and her legs, hands, and mouth were tied up.
Meanwhile, used condoms that appeared to have been used in a gang rape were discovered at the scene.
“After we partied in the hotel with Ugochi, we decided to go home,” one of the late Ugochi’s female companions, who requested anonymity, said. “But Ugochi decided to stay back since other men priced her N50,000 to spend the night with her.”
“They offered me N100,000, but I declined since I didn’t know who they were.” I lied to them about my boyfriend being in town, so I won’t be able to spend the night somewhere other than my house.
“We told Ugochi not to follow them, but she refused due to the financial incentive.” As a result, we left her behind and returned home. We went to the police and reported the situation when we didn’t see her the next day.
“We overheard the males claiming to be from Ghana. We’re not sure if it’s true or not. Where plate numbers should be, “Colonel” was inscribed on one of the vehicles they brought to the hotel.
“Ugochi killed herself. She would not have perished if she had listened to us. This is very painful.”
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
