Benito Gonzalez, Victim of Multiple Stabbings in Edinburg, Has Been Identified & Arrested

According to police, a 41-year-old Elsa man is in custody after a woman identified him as her attacker in a Wednesday stabbing.

According to a news release, officers from the Elsa Police Department were dispatched to the 400 block of E. 3rd Street Wednesday morning, where they discovered a screaming 35-year-old woman who had been stabbed “several times in the face and neck area.”

According to the news release, the victim identified her attacker as Benito Gonzalez.

Gonzalez was discovered hiding on the roof of a nearby residence and was apprehended without incident, according to police.

The suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a family member on a $500,000 bond.

The unnamed victim was seen at DHR Health in Edinburg and was discharged on Wednesday night.
