Tom Avis Obituary – Death: Bennett Volunteer Dept Former Fire Chief Cause of Death

According to social media posts made by Tom Avis’ close ones, the Bennett Volunteer Fire Department’s former fire chief, Tom Avis, passed away on Sunday, October 30 2022. I have a heavy sensation in my chest as I sit down to write this piece this evening. Tom Avis, our former fire chief, was involved in a car accident in July 2021 that would alter his life forever.

You are all well aware of this. He has worked extremely hard and gone through many highs and lows during the past year. Unfortunately, the injuries he endured caused him to pass away on Sunday, October 30. Tom dedicated his entire life to the Air Guard 148th over his nearly 20 years of service. He also taught hunter safety for the Fish and Game League in Douglas County.
