Officials from the hospital reported that three kids were killed on Monday in a shooting at a private Christian elementary school in Nashville. The suspect passed away as well following a run-in with the law.
In the incident at Covenant School, a Presbyterian institution with around 200 students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade, all three kids sustained bullet wounds. Upon arrival at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital, the patient was pronounced dead.
It was unclear right away if the attack had hurt anyone else. On Monday, additional youngsters fled the building while holding hands and joined their parents at a nearby church while being surrounded by police cruisers.
The shooter passed away after being “apprehended” by police, the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department reported on Twitter. It was unclear right away if the shooter shot himself in the head or was killed by police.

The fire department stated that it dealt with a “active attacker,” but provided no other information. The shooting’s full circumstances weren’t immediately made public.
Reporter Hannah McDonald of WTVF stated that Covenant School’s receptionist is her mother-in-law. The woman had just arrived back from a break on Monday morning, MacDonald said in a live broadcast. The reporter claimed that while her husband could communicate with her mother-in-law, she was unable to.
A part of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Covenant School was founded in 2001, according to the school’s website. The institution is situated south of downtown Nashville in the affluent Green Hills district, close to some of the best universities in the area and the Bluebird Café, a popular hangout for singers and songwriters.
33 instructors work at the elementary school, according to the website. The school’s website has the motto “Hearting Hearts, Empowering Minds, Enjoying Childhood.”
