The family of Derek Mumford regrets to inform you that he passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at the age of 36. His father Keith Mumford, mother Norine and John Crosby, sisters Suzanne (Brandon) McCullough and Amber (Evan) Reno, and brother Myles Mumford will all remember Derek with love. His seven nieces and nephews, Drew, Autumn, Lily, Jase, Jane, Sean, and Christopher, will also be remembered.
In the company of his wife and kids, 79-year-old Derek Richard Mumford, who was born on June 7, 1941, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2020. During World War II, Derek was born in Cairo, Egypt as a British citizen. He was born and raised in London, England, and he earned his law degree from Cambridge University. Derek came to the US in 1969 to work in Stratford, Connecticut for Sikorsky Aircraft. Derek relocated to Cleveland, Ohio’s Eaton Corporation in 1975. He spent more than 25 years working with Eaton, where he retired as vice president of information technology and an appointed officer. Derek enjoys the arts and has served on the boards of the Cleveland Opera and the YMCA, among others. Derek was a devoted rugby player who spent his 30s playing for Yale and England’s Old Blues.
He is a huge supporter of the Premier League, particularly Arsenal. Later in life, Derek enjoyed playing golf, hiking, watching his grandchildren play sports, and unwinding with a book and a whistle. Derek is survived by his cherished children, Derek (Hannah) Mumford and Courtney (Mike) Stilsky, as well as his cherished wife of 50 years, Linda J. Mumford. Caiden Mumford, Jake, Ty, Ryan, and Addison Stylski are his grandchildren. Derek has a smile on his face at all times, a sparkle in his eye, and a love of life.
