We were shocked to learn about Jason Twist’s passing because he was a legend in our sport. At this moment, our sympathies are with his family. I find what I’m reading online unbelievable. Two-time world 8-ball pool champion Jason Twist has passed away. Twisty was one of the funniest and kindest cuesports competitors I have ever encountered. He was also one of the greatest players to ever grace the little table. The late Jason.
Jason “Tornado” Twist has won the World Eight Ball Championship four times. He has also won the WEPF World Rules World Championships twice (in 2000 and 2002) and the IPA World Professional Senior (40+) Championship twice (under the Blackball Rules). In 2016, he defeated Jeremy Hooper of Cornwall, England. He resides in Ilfracombe, a beach community in England’s northern Devon county.
In 1995, 2003, 2008, and 2015, he made it to the final four more times but fell short to Daz Ward, Chris Melling, Gareth Potts, and Jack Whelan. From 1989 to 2009, he competed for England and won three European championships in addition to 12 world championships for a total of 16 victories.
