The Mansfield Police Department responded to a shooting call on Arabian Court on May 16, 2023, at 10:40 p.m.
Officers discovered that the incident was a domestic when they arrived.
Inside the house, they discovered the culprit, 52-year-old Thomas Boykin, and took him into jail without further incident. A 13-year-old boy and a 21-year-old woman were found by the police with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Mansfield medical personnel drove them both to Medical City Arlington.
Detectives concluded after conducting their investigation that Thomas Boykin had a fight with his wife and had physically abused her. Then, after getting a firearm, he entered his son’s bedroom and shot him while he slept before going into his stepdaughter’s room and shooting her.
The stepdaughter dialed 911 as the wife managed to escape the house. Following overnight surgery, both patients are listed in critical but stable condition.
Detectives are currently working on this case as it is still under investigation to learn what exactly happened before the shooting.
Thomas Boykin was taken to the Everman Jail and booked on three counts of serious bodily injury and aggravated assault against family members.
