Zion Williamson and his girlfriend Akima announced Tuesday that they have a baby girl. The New Orleans Pelicans star appeared in a gender-revealing video on YouTube. The couple invited some of their close family and friends to the grand unveiling. They set off pink fireworks. The party featured baby games and gifts before Williamson and Akima entered the “Boys or Girls” sign.
“My baby, someday you’ll see this. I don’t know what the future will bring. But Mom and Dad loves you. If you don’t know anything in this world, you’ll know that Mom and Dad loves you,” The NBA player said in the video. “Thank you God for bless my family,” Ahkeema wrote on Instagram. “We will give her unconditional love, guidance, protection and family. We are very grateful to Serena Williamson.”
Several Twitter users and fans congratulated Williamson. “Congratulations to Mr. Zion Williamson on becoming a father 👏🏾,” said one Twitter user.
“Zion Williamson is having a baby! Wow, what a lucky woman. Good semen ✅,” said a third. The New Orleans Pelicans signed Zion Williamson to a five-year, $193 million rookie extension last July. However, he has only played in 29 of 83 games this season due to injury. When asked about it, vice president David Griffin said, “I think a big part of it was him.” Williamson averaged 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists last season.
